17th March marks the lunar birthday of Dr. Lee Shau Kee, founder of Henderson Land Development Company Limited, and the first anniversary of his passing. To commemorate Dr. Lee and carry on his spirit of philanthropy, Henderson Land Development, in conjunction with the Lee Shau Kee Foundation, distributed 50,000 lucky bags to the public at 50 locations across Hong Kong on 17 March 2026. The lucky bags contain rice and soup packs, symbolizing abundance and health, conveying care and blessings to the community and expressing gratitude for the public's unwavering support of the Group over the past half-century. 50 distribution points were set up across multiple districts in Hong Kong, covering several large housing estates under the Group, all branches of the Home Market, Towngas Customer Centre, Metro Harbour Plaza in Tai Kok Tsui and Green Code Plaza in Fanling under the Hong Kong Ferry Group, North Point (East) Ferry Pier, Prince Edward and Nam Cheong Community Living Room, "Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village", and several courier stations that lent their spaces, spreading warmth and care to different corners of society. This lucky bag distribution campaign received enthusiastic participation from over 200 volunteers throughout the Group. Mr. Suen Kwok Lam, Executive Director of Henderson Land Development Company Limited and Director of the Loving Home Foundation, also set a good example, working with volunteers to distribute lucky bags to the public. Mr. Suen stated, “Dr. Lee Shau Kee is not only an outstanding business leader but also a highly respected philanthropist. He has been dedicated to society, practicing generosity and selflessness for many years, fully embodying the noble spirit and leaving a profound impact on society. We will continue to uphold Dr. Lee's philanthropic spirit, giving back to society in various ways and working with all sectors to build a harmonious and inclusive Hong Kong.” The Group has been distributing vegetarian buns to citizens and registered members at Home Market and the Prince Edward and Nam Cheong Community Living Room on the first and fifteenth days of the Lunar New Year since September last year. This year marks Henderson Land Development's 50th anniversary. The Group has launched a series of community and charitable activities since mid-January, including a charity run, a senior citizens' New Year's Eve dinner, and a community fun day, to celebrate this important milestone with all sectors. In just the past two months, more than 70,000 people have benefited, covering the elderly, young people, sick children, and underprivileged families. The Group will launch more exciting activities and special projects this year to celebrate its 50th anniversary with everyone.
